Women gear up for stateís two biggest events

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Wayne Stone, a Grand Rapids professional who is the director of golf at Windermere Country Club in Florida, has launched “The Great American Scramble,” a national championship that takes the place of the Buick Scramble that died in 2005.

The event will include local qualifiers with a chance to advance to nationals in Las Vegas in November.

PGA professionals can register teams with valid USGA handicap indexes from clubs and courses through the Web site www.greatamericanscramble.com. Teams can try to qualify at more than one site. Should the foursome be lucky enough to make it to nationals, their PGA pro will go with them to form a five-some.
For information, contact Stone at (407) 484-5367 or wayne@greatamericanscramble.com.
