Michigan PGA promotes junior tournament golf
BATH – The Michigan Section of the PGA is big in promoting tournament golf for youngsters.
It has launched the third season of the Michigan PGA Junior Tour, sponsored by Carl’s Golfland and Nike Golf. Boys and girls ages 13-18 can play tournaments throughout Michigan for a $100 fee, plus $50 per event. The tour will consist of seven single-day events, three two-day 36-hole events and a season-ending 36-hole Tour Championship at The Fortress in Frankenmuth. A Player of the Year will be awarded in each age division for boys and girls.
For smaller golfers 12 and under, the U.S. Kids Golf Michigan Local Tour will be administered by the Michigan PGA for the first time. Parents or other family members are encouraged to participate as caddies. The tour consists of eight tournaments, highlighted by a season-ending championship worth double the points of a regular event.
